Brent Choban is a 6'3" pitcher who will be entering his second season with the Florence Freedom. Choban played baseball for Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio, where he was named First Team All League all four years and was the League Pitcher of the Year in his freshman, junior, and senior seasons. After graduating from Archbishop Hoban, Choban decided to attend and play baseball for Ohio University. Although he made just 15 starts in his first two seasons combined, Choban went on to finish his four year college career with 44 starts and 59 total appearances. He experienced his most sucessful season in his senior year, when he started 15 games, earned a 7-6 record, and had an ERA of just 2.95. He ended his career with a 13-13 record and a 4.73 ERA through 257 innings. Choban wasn't selected in the 2012 MLB draft, and signed with the Freedom shortly after. In his first year with us, he earned a 3-1 record after appearing in 9 games and pitching 26 innings. He also had a 4.50 ERA and threw 17 strikeouts.
