Luis joins the Bluefish during his first season in the Atlantic League and 16th of professional baseball. The former Major Leaguer began the 2012 campaign as a member of the Sugar Land Skeeters, appearing in 10 games for the club before being acquired by Bridgeport for future considerations.
The 38-year-old was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an undrafted free agent in 1997 and made his first appearance in ‘The Show’ in with Pittsburgh in 2001. He would again return to the big leagues in 2007 with the Toronto Blue Jays and then make his final stop in the Majors with the San Francisco Giants the following season. Figueroa has played in a total of 18 contests in the Major Leagues, collecting two hits and scoring two runs. Over the course of 1,617 minor league games, he owns a .282 batting average with 351 extra-base hits, 610 RBI, and 780 runs scored.
