Edgardo joins the Bluefish during his ninth season of professional baseball. Before making his way over to the Park City, the outfielder split time this season with Double-A Bowie of the Baltimore Orioles organization and Reynosa of the Mexican League. He appeared in 18 combined games and recorded a .200 in 65 at-bats.
The 26-year-old was originally drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 4th round of the 2003 amateur draft. He has made it up to the Double-A level during his minor league career and his best professional season came in 2008 when he split time between Single-A Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg of the Nationals organization. In 129 combined games, the Puerto Rico native batted .270 and set career-highs with 14 homes runs, 31 doubles, 65 RBI, and 68 runs scored. Over the course of 2,750 minor league at-bats, Baez owns a .251 batting average with 71 home runs, 366 RBI, 346 runs scored, and 53 stolen bases.
