Edgar Garcia begins his first year in El Paso in 2012. The 6’2, 217 lbs right-hander from Las Matas de Frafan, San Juan, Dominican Republic signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2005. He began his career with the Rookie Level GCL Phillies of the Gulf Coast League in 2005 and moved up the Low A Batavia Muckdogs of the New York-Pennsylvania League in 2006. He 2007, Garcia split time between the Low A Williamsport Crosscutters of the New York-Pennsylvania League and the Lakewood BlueClaws of the South Atlantic League. In 2008, Garcia made it as high as Double A with the Reading Phillies of the Florida State League and also spent time with the High A Clearwater Threshers of the Florida State League. In 2009, Garcia split time between the Threshers and the GCL Phillies before moving back up to the Threshers in 2010. After signing with the Kansas City Royals, he spent time with the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Carolina League and the Double A Northwest Arkansas Naturals of the Texas League in 2011. In eight seasons of professional baseball, Garcia has compiled a record of 28-40 with a 4.28 ERA in 134 games with 90 starts and 19 saves. In 576.2 innings, Garcia has struck out 444 batters.
