Former 2nd round pick (69 overall) of the Seattle Mariners Josh Womack was another big signing for the Armada in the off-season. The centerfielder spent part of the 2008 season with the Mariner’s affiliate Tacoma Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League (AAA). Womack appeared in 12 games for Tacoma. He spent 7 years in the Mariners system, and will provide the Armada with strong defense and leadership in the outfield in 2009. Womack achieved internet stardom in June 2009 when a video of him doing a trick he called the “Tray Flip” where he spins a bat 360 degrees laterally in the motion of his swing got more than 3.3 million hits after Yahoo posted it as its headline story on Friday, June 19.
