Another of the Pump Jacks deep corps of catchers this season is Whitt Dorsey, who hails from South Alabama University to make his Pump Jacks debut this summer.
Dorsey, originally from Auburn, Alabama, transferred to SAU from Gulf Coast Community College two seasons ago, and after redshirting in 2011, he made an immediate impact on the Jaguars’ lineup. Dorsey led the Jaguars this season in batting, with a .337 batting average in 52 games played, 51 of them starts. He also posted totals of 12 doubles, 2 home runs and 31 RBI while making just a single error behind the plate. Before South Alabama, Dorsey played two seasons at GCCC, batting .381 with 4 homers and 37 RBI in being named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-State his sophomore year. He also played baseball for 4 years at Auburn High School, batting .480 with 9 homers and 60 RBI and was named honorable mention All-State.
