A left-handed pitcher with very good command and versatility on the mound, Kubat comes to the Pump Jacks this summer from the University of Nebraska.
As a freshman this spring for the Huskers, Kubat was used both as a starter and as a reliever, making 8 starts among his 15 appearances. Kyle posted a 5-1 record and a 2.63 ERA, which ranked 3rd on the team. He also gave up just 10 extra-base hits in 51.1 innings pitched while ranking among the Huskers’ team leaders in strikeouts with 31. In high school at Creighton Prep in Nebraska, the Waterloo, Neb. native was a two-time All-State selection. He led his team to a state title his senior season as a two-way threat, posting a perfect 6-0 record with a 1.83 ERA and a remarkable 82 strikeouts in just 46 innings on the mound, and batting .416 with 12 doubles at the plate.
