PRIOR TO MINNESOTA: Competed at Iowa Central Community College for two years...as a sophomore, appeared in nine games and went 5-3 with an ERA of 4.25 in 42.1 innings pitched and had 29 strikeouts...appeared in seven games and went 3-1 in 21.2 innings pitched his freshman year...also played in the Arizona Collegiate Wood Bat League in the summer of 2010...in the summer of 2011, played for the Alexandra Beetles in the Northwoods League that made the championship game of the divisional finals.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Central High School in 2009 and played under coaches Nick Kalina and father, Andy Ghelfi...named the Mississippi Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year...named third-team all-state, all-conference and all-city honoree as a senior...in his last high school season, went 10-1 with an ERA of 2.24...also had 33 RBI, averaging .485 with five home runs in 68 at bats...member of the Central High School team that were the conference champions in 2009, while holding a 16-12 record and a state semifinal appearance in 2008...two-year lettewinner in baseball, two in hockey and a letterwinner in soccer.

PERSONAL: Majoring in American studies...son of Andy and Tina Ghelfi...lists going to the Junior College World Series his freshman year with Iowa Central as his most memorable sports thrill...has two younger brothers, Zachary and Mitchell...born Sept. 10, 1990.
