Alex Bacon has continued this spring right where he left off his freshman campaign. Through 15 games this spring he has posted a .321 batting average with two home runs and 10 RBI. He currently carries a .415 on-base percentage through March 11th. As a freshman, Bacon batted .352 on the season (70-for-199) with 46 runs scored, 18 doubles, one triple, 9 home runs and 42 RBI. He boasted a .588 slugging percentage and a .421 on base percentage, while leading the Ospreys in multiple categories including runs, doubles, hit by pitch, sacrifice flies, games played, and outfield assists. He was second on team in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, hits, runs batted in, home runs, total bases and games started. In addition he also led the team with 22 multiple hit games and 12 multiple RBI games. Bacon garnered numerous accolades for his performance during his first collegiate season. He was named Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year, Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman All-American, while also being a unanimous choice for the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman team. Bacon attended Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida where he was named an Under Armour All-American from 2009-2010. He helped the Tigers win the 2010 Regional Championship and also played a large role in helping Jesuit High School earn a No. 1 ranking in the Nation in 2009. The game of baseball runs in his genes as his father, Kevin, was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals and his grandfather Don advanced as high as AAA baseball for the Chicago White Sox. Alex was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin before re-locating to Tampa, Florida.
