Gushue was remarkable as a first year player in 2012, serving as both a first baseman and designated hitter on a national championship contending Gator squad. In 50 games he had 21 RBIs and five home runs. His impressive defense and steady plate abilities have many people expecting big things out of the Boca Raton native. Prior to becoming a Gator, Gushue was named First-Team All-State in Florida all three years that he lettered. Before his junior year of high school in 2011 MaxPreps and Perfect Game named him a First-Team All-American.
