#13 Mitch Abeita - Player Profile

Mitch Abeita is a Duncanville, Texas native.  The 6-0, 205 lbs right-handed catcher attended the University of Nebraska, where he was ranked as the 25th best player in the Big 12 in 2008.  He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 19th round of the 2009 draft.  He spent 2009 in single-A Staten Island and progressed up to advanced-A Tampa in 2010 and 2011 before being released.  He is a defensive specialist, with a .988 career fielding percentage.  This is Abeita's first year in independent baseball.
