Higgs signed last season by the Mariners and hit .300 with 10 doubles, a homer and 10 RBI in just 70 at-bats for the Arizona League Mariners. A native of Antioch, CA, Higgs was inked by the M’s following his senior year at the University of San Francisco where he was named First Team All-West Coast Conference and helped to lead the Dons to the NCAA tournament. Higgs had a hit in all three NCAA Tournament Regional games. In his final year with USF, the 6’2” right-handed batter hit .289 with 19 doubles, tied for the team lead with four homeruns and had 27 RBI. The 19 doubles marked the sixth highest single season total in Dons history.
