Drafted in the 41st round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals.  *2009 and 2010:  Went 7-5 with a 3.55 ERA at rookie ball his first two seasons (started and relieved).  *2011: Went 1-4 with a 4.33 ERA in 30 relief appearances at Single-A Quad Cities (exclusively out of the bullpen).  Played college baseball at McKendree University in nearby Lebanon, IL. (2006-2009).  *21-7 during his final three seasons @ McKendree. (2-time American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Year @ the NAIA level)
