A native of Peabody, Batchelor became a full-time pitcher for the first time this year posting a 4.43 era in 13 appearances. Batchelor struck out 13 batters in 22.1 IP. As a sophomore in 2011, he played in 36 of the team’s games, mostly behind the plate, hitting .200 and leading the team with 14 walks.
Also native of Peabody, Batchelor played his high school baseball at Austin Prep in Reading, Mass., where he was named a Catholic Central League all-star in baseball and basketball as a junior and senior. Batchelor was also a recipient of the Unsung Hero Award.
