Krentzman had an impressive freshman campaign starting 21 games for the Bucknell Bison. He hit .284 in 74 at-bats and knocked in 11 runs. Krentzman was also a stalwart behind the plate with 172 putouts and a .983 fielding percentage.

Krentzman played his high school baseball at Buckingham Browne & Nichols in Cambridge, Mass., where he hit over .400 all four years. A three-time first time Independent School All-League honoree, he led the team to Independent School League titles in 2009 and 2010, including the first unbeaten season in school history in 2010 (23-0).
