Evans has caught the eye of major league organizations several times. Briefly serving as the closer with the Amarillo Sox last season, he converted all four save opportunities, going 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA and nine strikeouts in seven games. In August, he signed with the Los Angeles Angels for his second stint in affiliated ball. With Class A Inland Empire, Evans posted a 2-0 mark with a 3.18 ERA in seven games. This spring Evans was in minor-league spring training with the Texas Rangers. Evans was an Arizona Diamondbacks’ 10th-round draft pick in 2005 out of Long Beach State University. He spent five years in their system, including four games with Triple-A Tucson in 2008.
