Joey joins the Bluefish for his second season in the Atlantic League and 11th of professional baseball. The outfielder began the 2011 campaign in the independent ranks, splitting time between Yuma and Shreveport-Bossier, before having his contract purchased by the Boston Red Sox. He would finish the year with the big club, appearing in seven games for the Red Sox.
The former Major Leaguer made his Atlantic League debut with the Long Island Ducks in 2010, batting .269 with ten extra-base hits and 31 runs scored in 38 games. Following this impressive performance, he had his contract purchased midseason by the Baltimore Orioles and he finished the year with Triple-A Norfolk.
Over his seven-year big league career, the 31-year-old has also spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays, Kansas City Royals, and Chicago Cubs. He owns a career .263 batting with 178 runs scored and 81 stolen bases in 452 games played.
Joey was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 32nd round of the 2001 amateur draft.
