6-2, 205 lbs Buschini is a San Ramon, California native who attended Cal Poly University, where he earned Big West All-Star honors as a utility infielder in 2009. He was ranked as the fourth-best Big West player after hitting .422 with 11 homeruns and 61 RBI in 49 games. The right-hander was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the fourth round of the 2009 draft and spent the remainder of 2009 in the low single-A NY-Penn League with Williamsport. He was promoted to single-A Lakewood of the South Atlantic League in 2010, but was granted his release following the season. He moved on to the independent North American League with Chico in 2011 where he hit a career-best .288 with nine homeruns and 52 RBI in 81 games.
