Keniry returns for his second stint with the Gulls in 2012 after splitting time at second base last summer. Keniry appeared in 24 games, starting all but one of them, batting .197 (15-for-76) with eight runs scored, one double, one triple, one home run, eight RBI and one stolen base last summer.
Keniry will play a key role for the Gulls this summer as the team’s everyday second baseman, coming off a breakout sophomore season at Wake Forest. According to Wake Forest head coach Tom Walter, Keniry “developed into one of the top players for the Deacons this spring,” in which he appeared in 49 games, starting 47 of them and batted a career-high .289 (54-for-187) with 39 runs scored, 13 doubles, 24 RBI and 11 stolen bases.
Keniry served as the Deacons everyday second baseman for the majority of his freshman year, appearing in 45 games, starting 37 of them. Keniry batted .197 (27-for-137) with seven doubles, 11 RBI and 10 stolen bases.
