Alex hit .400 at Cal Poly in 2012, with two homers and 16 RBIs.
Alex missed virtually the entire 2011 high school season with a shoulder injury. As a junior in 2010, he hit .482 with 53 hits, 30 RBIs, 14 doubles, one home run and seven stolen bases and was a first-team All-Area and second-team all-state honoree. He hit .420 as a sophomore.
Alex was an Area Code finalist and played for the San Francisco Giants scout Team. He lettered four times in both baseball and football and also lettered in basketball as a freshman and sophomore.
In football, Alex was a wide receiver and caught 62 passes for 1,147 yards and five touchdowns in 2010. He also averaged 35.1 yards on 39 punts, and earned first-team All-Area honors as selected by the Stockton Record and was Tri-City Athletic League Co-Offensive Player of the Year. He had 120 career catches for 2,129 yards and 17 touchdowns.
