An NEBCL All-Star right fielder for the Newport Gulls last summer, Ort is returning for a second stint with the Gulls in 2012 after helping lead Indiana State to the Division I NCAA Tournament during his junior campaign by batting .297 (66-for-222) with 42 runs scored, 66 hits, 19 doubles, one triple, seven homers, 15 RBI and six stolen bases in 56 games. Ort was named an All-Missouri Valley Conference selection as a junior this spring.

Ort batted .283 (32-for-113) with 32 hits, five doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI in 31 games with the Newport Gulls in 2011.

Ort was a First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection as a sophomore when he started 56 games, was second on the team in batting average (.320) and led the Sycamores in home runs (10), triples (seven), runs scored (56), RBI (53), total bases (124) and slugging percentage (.559).
