A 39th round selection by the Colorado Rockies in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft, McKeithan is a utility infielder for Vanderbilt capable of playing either shortstop or third base for the Newport Gulls this summer. McKeithan appeared in 22 games as a sophomore this spring, starting 14 of them, batting .171 (7-for-41) with nine runs scored, one double, four RBI and one stolen base.
McKeithan appeared in six games as a pinch hitter during his freshman year, going 1-for-3 at the plate. His first career hit came against Tennessee Tech. His father, Mack, played baseball at North Carolina State while his grandfather, Jerry, played professionally for seven years in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
