Geivy Garcia is a Tampa, Florida native who begins his first season with the Diablos. The 6-2, 175 lbs right-hander signed as an international free agent with the San Diego Padres in 2001 after playing in the Dominican Republic. He began his career playing Rookie Ball with the Idaho Falls Padres of the Pioneer League in 2002 and 2003. Garcia moved up Class A Ball with the Fort Wayne Wizards of the Midwest League in 2004 and 2005 seasons, after which he was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 2005 Rule V Draft. After taking a year off in 2006, Garcia came back with the Tarrant County Blue Thunder of the Continental Baseball League in 2007. In 2008, he split time with the Edinburgh Coyotes of the United League and the Grand Prairie AirHogs. Garcia signed with the Connecticut Defenders of the Eastern League in 2009, the AirHogs again in 2010 and in 2011 split time with Petroleros de Miniatitlan of the Mexican League and the Wichita Wingnuts where he compiled a record of 1-3 with a 10.12 EAR in nine appearances in relief in 8.0 innings.
