Every team needs an ace, and that is exactly what Bret was for Iowa Central C.C. in 2009. He made a team-high 11 starts and led the team in wins (6), complete games (5), innings (61.0) strikeouts (71) and batting average against (.221). The right handed sophomore from Lakeville was simply dominant, and will look to build on his 2008 season with the Honkers, when he worked exclusively out of the bullpen and posted an ERA of 3.72 and struck out 24 in just 19.1 innings. Last summer Bret didn’t make any starts for Rochester, but he should get an opportunity to start this time around and continue the stunning success he has already had this spring. Bret is one of four returning players this season for the Honkers, and one of two Minnesotans on the roster.
