MacFarland joins the Freedom after pitching with the Washington Wild Things in 2010.

2010: Washington Wild Things, Frontier League. 3-2, 5.45 ERA in seven games, all starts. 36.1 innings, 45 K's, 37 hits. 

MacFarland played four seasons of affiliated and independent league experience and a combined 4-9 record and 5.83 ERA. In 2009, he appeared in seven games for Grand Prairie of the American Association, where he posted a 0-3 record and 8.42 ERA in 25.2 innings pitched. He also played for Grand Prairie in 2008, with a 0-2 record and 4.50 ERA in 10 appearances.

Macfarland was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the ninth round of the 2006 MLB Draft. He played Single-A ball in the Pirates organization in 2006-07 and in the Giants organization in 2007-08. The Marlboro, N.Y., played college baseball at Lamar University.
