#6 Brandon Young - Player Profile

Brandon Young, signed with the Bears on 6/26/2011, comes to Newark after a successful career at Benedict College, an NCAA Division II school in Columbia, SC, where he played for his father, Selwyn, a long-time college coach. Young batted .345 with two HR and 40 RBI in 52 games as a junior and batted .349 with no HR and 41 RBI in 43 games this season. He was part of the ''Running Tigers,'' a program that led all NCAA baseball in stolen bases as a team over the last three seasons. Young had 45 stolen bases in 54 attempts over the last two seasons.
