Cate has Major League experience with the St. Louis Cardinals, striking out 12 batters in 16 innings during the 2007 season. 

He also has experience with the Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, and Toronto Blue Jays organizations, reaching the Triple-A level for three seasons.
