Swenson, signed by the Bears on June 22, 2011, comes to Newark after a four-year career as a backstop at Jacksonville University. Known for his durability, he was nicknamed "Ironman" for catching every single game for two years for the Dolphins. He batted .273 with no homers and 23 RBI as Jacksonville's regular catcher and just completed his college career three weeks ago. This is his first professional experience.
