Williams will begin his first season with the Ducks and first in the Atlantic League. The lefty has spent six seasons in the Major Leagues, appearing for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, and New York Mets. His best overall season came in 2005 with the Pirates when he totaled 10 wins, a 4.41 ERA, and 88 strikeouts in 25 starts. He last pitched in the big leagues with the Mets in 2006 and 2007.
The 32-year-old split time in 2009 between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse in the Washington Nationals organization. His best minor league season came in 2000 when he went 12-9 with a 3.18 ERA and 201 strikeouts 26 starts between Single-A Hickory and Lynchburg in the Pirates organization. For his minor league career, the Alaska native is 49-35 with a 3.50 ERA. Williams was originally drafted by the Pirates in the 17th round of the 1998 amateur draft.
