With the Express: Scheffert returns to the Express in 2011 for his second season. He spent most of his time in 2010 as a corner infielder, but also logged some key innings on the mound for the Express. He finished the season with a .230 batting average and hit four home runs and had 27 RBI. He also had 13 doubles and scored 24 runs. On the mound, Scheffert was 4-0 with a 2.16 ERA in eight appearances, including three starts. Scheffert will likely serve the same role for the Express this season.
2011 Outlook: Hit over .300 in his first year as a Husker and is looking to continue his development as one of NU's top hitters. Started 32 games last season, including 20 at first base. Will most likely see his defensive role as the starting right fielder, replacing All-Big 12 selection Adam Bailey, but could see time at first base as well. May see a limited role on the mound, as he made one appearance in the Red-White Series and gave up no runs and one hit in 2.1 innings. Finished the 2010 season on a tear, hitting .394 over the last 12 games with three homers and 14 RBIs. Played summer ball for Eau Claire in the Northwoods League, hitting .232 with 26 RBIs. Had an impressive 4-0 pitching record for the Express with a 2.16 ERA.
