Juengel, originally from Houston, Texas, was a second-team All Big-12 selection as a utility player as a sophomore after hitting .359 with 10 doubles, 11 home runs, and 39 RBI. He hit .420 (21-for-50) with runners in scoring position and was 5-for-7 as a pinch hitter. Juengel also received Big-12 All-Tournament honors after hitting .429 with three home runs and eight RBI as the Aggies claimed the championship. He also ended the season by hitting safely in 14 of the team’s last 16 games, maintaining a .403 average during that stretch. He played his freshman season at Panola College in Carthage, Texas, and finished that campaign with a .404 average along with 16 home runs to lead the Ponies to the playoffs. That following summer he played for the East Texas PumpJacks of the wood-bat Texas Collegiate League, where he was named TCL Freshman of the Year and was an all-league selection at third base. His totals included a .322 batting average with team-high marks in hits (47), total bases (67), slugging percentage (.459), and on-base percentage (.398).

Said Labbe, “Matt will bring one of the most polished and proven swings in the entire league this summer.” “He has hit at the highest levels in college and during the summer, and I see him being an integral part of the offense this summer in Madison. He can run, hit for average, and hit for power; he has all of the tools to be an impactful player in our league. I see Matt mixing in this summer at either of the corner outfield positions, third base, or at designated hitter. He is the type of hitter who you don’t want to miss every time he steps into the batter’s box.”
