A junior catcher from Stewartsville, New Jersey, Jones was the only Blackbird to appear in all 56 games as a sophomore, starting each one. For the year, he hit .302 with 33 RBI and 31 runs scored. Of his 60 hits, Jones recorded nine doubles, one triple, and five home runs. He also swiped six bases. His 199 at-bats set a new single-season record at Long Island University and he drove in at least two runs on seven occasions. As a freshman Jones appeared in 36 games, making 33 starts en-route to hitting .300 with eight RBI and 11 runs scored. He also had nine multi-hit games.

Mallards Field Manager Greg Labbe points to Jones’ character and experience and the junior’s biggest strengths. “Tyler is an extraordinarily gifted athlete and defender behind the plate,” said Labbe. “He brings a wealth or experience as a game caller and he too was a top prospect in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League last summer. Tyler is a leader at Long Island and I expect him to bring that strong character with him to Madison this summer to help us win a championship.”
