Rice is coming off the heels of an eye-popping 2010 that saw him go 2-0 with a 0.96 ERA in 35 appearances for Double-A Tulsa in the Colorado Rockies farm system. The lefty also spent a good portion of the season at Triple-A Colorado Springs, earning his contract with the Rockies after pitching in the Atlantic League with Newark in 2009. Rice also appeared in the Atlantic League with Long Island in 2008. The 29-year-old stands 6’6 and was a first-round draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles in 1999. He spent the first eight years of his pro career in the Orioles system, climbing all the way to Triple-A Ottawa in 2006. Rice has also pitched in the Texas Rangers and San Diego Padres organizations.
