Pecci’s professional career began in 1998 when he was chosen in the 11th round of the 1998 Rule Four draft by the Oakland Athletics out of Stanford University. In his first seven years out of college, Pecci racked up experience playing affiliated ball for the Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners and the San Francisco Giants. Pecci reached as high as AAA in 2008 when he played for the Tacoma Rainiers and the Fresno Grizzlies. After 2008, Pecci took his talents to Independent ball where he played his last six years with the Gary RailCats of the Northern League. Pecci’s best years came recently in 2008 and 2009. He hit an impressive .317 and .292 in those years, but perhaps the most impressive thing about Pecci is his ability to put the bat on the ball. As simple and fundamental as it sounds, many hitters have difficulty striking out, but not Pecci. In his 688 at bats combined in 2008 and 2009, Pecci struck out a mere 47 times for a rate of 1 strikeout in every 14.6 at bats; the MLB average is 1 in every 5.71 at bats. Pecci will bring his amazing hand-eye coordination to the leadoff spot for the 2011 Outlaws.
