Hose went from being a standout starter at East Carolina University, where he pitched for four seasons (2005 through 2008) to becoming a fine relief pitcher and closer in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ organization. Hose won 23 games as a starter for ECU, winning seven games in each of his freshman and senior years there. He was then selected by the Diamonbacks in the 36th round of the 2008 MLB Draft and had a great season for South Bend in the Class A Midwest League in 2009, posting a 3-2 record with a 1.70 ERA and 11 saves, earning Midwest League All-Star status. Hose pitched parts of two seasons at Class A Visalia. Posted an 8-9 record with a 3.94 ERA as a professional. Will more than likely be asked to be a starter this season with the Bears.
