Mayobanex Santana (also known as Christobal) is a Tuscon, Arizona native who attended college in the Dominican Republic. The 6-3, 190 lbs right-handed veteran infielder was signed by the Chicago White Sox in 1999 as an undrafted free agent. Santana steadily ascended up the White Sox organization as an 18 year-old in 2000 with the Arizona League White Sox rookie team and Bristol of the Appalacian rookie league in 2000 and 2001. Following a trade to the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and succesful stints with Missoula of the Pioneer rookie league in 2002, South Bend of the Single-A Midwestern League and Lancaster of the High-A California league in 2003, Santana was traded to Cleveland Indians organization in 2004. After another trade, this time to the Oakland Athletics organization, Santana returned to the Diamondbacks with El Paso, then of the double-AA Texas League in 2004. Santana remained with Arizona until his release from Visalia in the high-A California League in 2007. Santana entered independent baseball in 2008 with Edinburg of the United League and Tuscon of the Golden League in 2009 and 2010, where he had a .359 average with six homeruns and 61 RBI (all career-highs).
