Infielder Argenis Reyes, who has played 58 career major league games with the New York Mets, returns to the Jackals in 2011 for his second season with the team and his ninth overall in professional baseball.

A 28-year-old native of the Dominican Republic, Reyes began 2010 as the Jackals starting second baseman and hit .279 with two home runs in 33 games before the Boston Red Sox purchased his contract on July 2. Reyes proceeded to hit .256 in 14 games with the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox before being traded to the Cleveland Indians, where he finished the season batting .340 in 16 contests for Cleveland’s Triple-A affiliate, the Columbus Clippers.

Originally signed as a nondrafted free agent by the Cleveland Indians in 2001, Reyes spent seven years in the Indians organization before signing with the Mets in 2008 and making his Major League debut later that season. He played 49 games with the Mets in 2008 and nine more in 2009, compiling a .205 major league average. Reyes spent the majority of 2009 with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, batting .282 with 31 RBIs in 101 contests.

A superb defender, Reyes committed just two errors in 33 games for the Jackals in 2010, good for a .998 fielding percentage. At the major league level, he is errorless in 114 career chances. Offensively, the switch hitter boasts a .285 career minor league batting average with 145 stolen bases over eight seasons.
