Ryan Howell had two extra base hits, helping the Wenatchee AppleSox (2-0) to a 5-0 victory over the Portland Dukes (0-3) on Saturday at WCL Field.

The Portland Dukes' lineup had no answer for Zach Abbruzza. The Portland Dukes managed just three hits off of Abbruzza, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his five innings of work.

The Wenatchee AppleSox couldn't get anything going as long as Grant Mattes was pitching. Mattes held the Wenatchee AppleSox hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Trevor Goforth (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked four, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
