An ace performance by Osvaldo Rodriguez lifted the Edinburg Roadrunners (34-20) to an 8-1 win over the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings on Friday at Edinburg Stadium.
Rodriguez kept contact to a minimum, striking out seven the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (30-23) batters. Rodriguez allowed no earned runs, three hits and two walks over eight innings.
The Edinburg Roadrunners blew out the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings thanks to 14 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Edinburg Roadrunners scored four runs in the fifth on a single by Wilmer Pino, a double by Carlos Hereaud, , an RBI single by Felix Molina, an RBI single by Cristobal Santana, and a single by Osiel Flores.
Pino was solid at the plate for the Edinburg Roadrunners. Pino went 3-5, drove in one and scored three runs.
Eddie Dennis Jr. ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
