An outstanding effort by Osvaldo Rodriguez carried the Edinburg Roadrunners (31-18) to a 7-0 win over the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings on Saturday at Edinburg Stadium.
Rodriguez got the win for the Edinburg Roadrunners thanks to 10 strikeouts. The Edinburg Roadrunners' pitcher tossed eight innings of shutout ball and allowed only four hits.
The Edinburg Roadrunners blew out the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (28-20) thanks to nine hits, including zero extra base hits. The Edinburg Roadrunners scored three runs in the fourth on a two-run single by Derek Perren and an RBI double by Cristobal Santana.
Tim Battle was solid at the plate for the Edinburg Roadrunners. Battle went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the fifth inning and tripled in the eighth inning.
Henry Garcia ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
