The Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (7-5) and the Edinburg Roadrunners (7-6) passed the lead back and forth five times on Tuesday at Harlingen Field, but in the end the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings pulled out an 8-5 win over the Edinburg Roadrunners.
Bryan Marquez had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the sixth inning and doubled in the second and eighth innings.
Julio Santana brought the heat against the Edinburg Roadrunners during his outing. Santana held the Edinburg Roadrunners hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.
Osiel Flores boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace the Edinburg Roadrunners. He singled in the fourth and sixth innings.
Geovawy Reyes got his second win for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings despite allowing five runs over 5 2/3 innings. Reyes struck out three, walked two and gave up eight hits.
Matison Smith couldn't get it done on the hill for the Edinburg Roadrunners, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out eight.
Fidel Hernandez, Marquez and Jordan Price helped lead the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings. They combined for eight hits and five RBIs.
