The Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (30-21) beat the Abilene Prairie Dogs (21-29) 12-2 on Thursday at Harlingen Field after a seven-run explosion in the fourth inning.

Legum Baroso racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings. He singled in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.

Luis Chirinos's seven strikeouts were enough to push the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings past the Abilene Prairie Dogs. Chirinos allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks over seven innings.

Joe Weik was hot from the plate for the Abilene Prairie Dogs. Weik went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the seventh innings and homered in the ninth inning.

Ben Tootle ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked six and struck out one.
