A walk-off single from Romulo Ruiz brought home the winning run for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (24-18) in a 3-2 victory over the San Angelo Colts (21-21) at Harlingen Field on Saturday.
It was a good day at the plate for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings' Ruiz. Ruiz went 3-4 and drove in one. He singled in the second, fifth, and ninth innings.
Celson Polanco handled the San Angelo Colts' lineup with ease, racking up six strikeouts. Polanco allowed two earned runs on five hits and three walks over seven innings.
Alberto Reyes improved to 2-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings. Reyes struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.
Michael Hacker couldn't get it done on the hill for the San Angelo Colts, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
