Chad Kruse was cold coming off the bench, but Kruse warmed up quickly as Kruse stroked a key pinch-hit single in the four to lead the Victoria Generals (35-22) to a 6-3 win over the Woodlands Strykers (22-36) on Saturday at Riverside Stadium.
With the Victoria Generals trailing by one in the fourth inning, Kruse came to the plate and singled.
The Woodlands Strykers had the lead early, but couldn't hold off the Victoria Generals. The Woodlands Strykers led until the fourth inning, but the Victoria Generals took the lead back on a two-run single by Kruse.
Ryan Guedry got on base three times in the game for the Victoria Generals. He singled in the third and fourth innings.
Bryce Zak kept contact to a minimum, striking out seven the Woodlands Strykers batters. Zak allowed three earned runs, six hits and two walks over seven innings.
Zach Heard was charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked four and struck out four.
