Sunday was a great day for Brennyn Smith, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Brazos Valley Bombers (38-21) to a 22-1 victory over the Woodlands Strykers (22-34) at Strykers Stadium in seven innings.
Fourteen runs in the opening three innings allowed the Brazos Valley Bombers to easily put away the Woodlands Strykers. An RBI home run by James Wharton, a solo home run by Wharton, a solo home run by Smith, an RBI single by Matt Smith, and a two-run single by Smith during the first inning and a solo home run by Chris Florack, , a hit by pitch, and an error in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Brazos Valley Bombers.
Nathan Sorenson brought the heat against the Woodlands Strykers during his outing. The Woodlands Strykers managed just one hit off of the the Brazos Valley Bombers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked five and struck out four during his four innings of work.
Martin Cronin (0-4) took the loss for the Woodlands Strykers. He allowed nine runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.
The Brazos Valley Bombers pounded the Woodlands Strykers pitching, as eight hitters combined for 15 hits, 15 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
