Dillon Newman hopes every outing could go as well as Thursday, as Newman pitched seven shutout innings to carry the Victoria Generals (24-11) to a 4-0 victory over the Brazos Valley Bombers (21-16) at Riverside Stadium.
Trent Wagner helped the Victoria Generals pull ahead for the duration in the seventh inning. Trace Knoblauch to start the seventh. He then went from first to second on a single by Brandon Tierney. Finally, Wagner came to the plate with the game scoreless in the seventh inning and singled, plating Knoblauch.
Carter Mangum racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Victoria Generals. He singled in the third and seventh innings.
Brannon Easterling couldn't get it done on the bump for the Brazos Valley Bombers, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
