A walk-off single from Nathan Zavos brought home the winning run for the East Texas Pump Jacks (22-5) in a 3-2 victory over the McKinney Marshals (5-21) at Driller Park on Tuesday.
Zavos was solid at the plate for the East Texas Pump Jacks. Zavos went 1-4 and drove in one. He singled in the ninth inning.
Payton Smith pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out four.
Despite the loss, the McKinney Marshals' Blake Douglass dominated the East Texas Pump Jacks' batters, giving up two runs and striking out seven.
Gerardo Esquivel improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the East Texas Pump Jacks. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered no hits.
Kindle Ladd was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed one run.
