The Victoria Generals (14-8) took the last of four lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against the Brazos Valley Bombers (14-9), securing a 3-2 victory on Thursday at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark.
The Victoria Generals pulled out the win thanks to a strong sixth inning. An error scored Jude Vidrine and gave the Victoria Generals the lead for good.
Chad Kruse had a hot bat for the Victoria Generals. Kruse went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the third and sixth innings.
Dillon Newman shut down the Brazos Valley Bombers while he was on the mound. Newman held the Brazos Valley Bombers hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.
Brannon Easterling was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Victoria Generals batters and allowing three runs.
Trae Davis got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered three hits.
Easterling was charged with his second loss of the year.
