A great day by Danny Sullivan wasn't enough to carry the Madison Mallards (31-25) to a win on Sunday, as the Madison Mallards fell to the La Crosse Loggers (38-18) 4-2 at Warner Park.
The La Crosse Loggers had no answer for Sullivan, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Sullivan held the La Crosse Loggers hitless over six innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out six.
The La Crosse Loggers came out swinging, scoring four runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Madison Mallards early.
Joe Meggs was hot from the plate for the La Crosse Loggers. Meggs went 2-5, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the first inning and singled in the second inning.
Jacob Dorris brought the heat against the Madison Mallards during his outing. Dorris held the Madison Mallards hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
TJ Kendzora got the win, running his season record to 3-1. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out one, walked three and surrendered two hits.
Sam Forkert couldn't get it done on the hill for the Madison Mallards, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
