A six-run explosion in the ninth inning lifted the Waterloo Bucks (19-13) to a 10-4 win over the Rochester Honkers (13-19) at Mayo Field on Thursday.
Connor McClain helped the Waterloo Bucks take the lead for good in the seventh inning. Jordan Adams to start the seventh. He then went from first to second on an error. Finally, McClain came to the plate with the score tied at two, and grounded out, plating Adams.
McClain racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Waterloo Bucks. He tripled in the ninth inning.
Benny Roberts racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Waterloo Bucks. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the ninth inning.
The Rochester Honkers couldn't get anything going as long as Ryan Doty was pitching. The Rochester Honkers managed just one hit off of Doty, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.
Nick Maiers recorded his third win of the year for the Waterloo Bucks. He allowed one run over two innings. Maiers struck out three, walked two and gave up three hits.
